Strategy and M&A Executive

Location: Sale, Manchester
Salary: £40,000 to £50,000

Verastar is a fast-growing, private equity-backed provider of essential business services to the UK business market.
Acquisitions are a core part of our continued growth strategy having completed an average of 4 acquisitions per year over the last 3 years and having expanded our service proposition from 2 to 5 product markets under current ownership.
We are looking to expand our current M&A and strategy team in order to accelerate this strategy and to take greater advantage of the many opportunities that continue to be presented to us.

The Role

  • Assistance with development of overall corporate M&A and business strategy; transaction origination, execution and integration
  • Involvement in acquisition process through from identification, engagement with the target company’s management team, transaction modelling and due diligence to negotiation, execution and completion with scope to lead projects
  • Provision of financial and commercial support on major strategic projects to senior management, our private equity owners and financial advisors
  • Ensure integrity of project financials
  • Risk assessment and management
  • Play a key role in the post-acquisition integration to ensure planned synergies are realised and risks identified are mitigated, involving other members of the company as required

Experience Required

  • Likely a qualified accountant although other financial/transaction-focused backgrounds considered
  • Transactions experience, either in a corporate finance team at a leading accounting firm (transaction services, restructuring or lead advisory), investment bank, PE firm or other finance provider
  • Proficient in Excel modelling (Valuation modelling experience helpful but not essential)
  • Role will require candidate to learn investment appraisal, commercial negotiations, due diligence, post transaction integration and execution of high value projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator, able to synthesise complex information for board level documents
  • Commercially minded, ambitious, comfortable with uncertainty, an inclination to action.
