We never really need a reason to have a cuppa and cake here at Verastar, so when a local school had a bake sale, we were there!
The Year 5’s at Barton Clough Junior School, Stretford got their cupcakes and sponges ready for a huge bake sale at their school and all the proceeds went to the When You Wish Upon a Star charity.
Established in Nottingham, the charity has one mission, to grant the wishes of children living with a life-threatening illness. The organisation wishes to strive to “transform the lives of the children and families they work with.”
Since 1990, When You Wish Upon a Star has granted more than 16,000 wishes throughout the UK. They also engage in several other activities to bring joy to the lives of seriously ill children. They host days-out throughout the year, such as the regular Harry Potter-themed trips on-board the beautiful Belmond Northern Belle train, and excursions to Lapland every December.
Back in October 2015, Verastar became a partner for the When You Wish Upon a Star. Verastar has developed a reputation for providing small businesses across the UK with excellent energy and telecoms services. We’ve had a lot of support from the local communities in which we operate, and we like to give back whenever we can by engaging continuously in local charity work.
The Year 5 pupils raised an impressive £130 from the delicious offerings and Verastar have doubled that amount raised for the charity.
Well done to the Year 5 pupils who have helped make other children’s wishes come true.
