On Friday 31st May, Clear Business, part of the Verastar Group, was named Best Business (51+ Employees) at the Lanarkshire Business Excellence Awards 2019 held at Motherwell Concert Hall.
In its 26th year, the prestigious gala saw a variety of high calibre finalists being celebrated for their achievements. Compered by comedienne and actress Elaine C Smith and hosted by North and South Lanarkshire Councils, the awards recognised the success of both individuals and team across the Lanarkshire business community in 10 categories – and thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended, the event raised over £8000 for Kilbryde Hospice.
Clear Business being awarded Best Business (51+ Employees) is a great triumph for the company, as is their placing as finalist for Employer of the Year. The Best Business category looked for companies with a strong performance record and team who stood out from their competitors, plans for continued success and strong stakeholder relationships.
Since 2013, Clear Business has been a challenger to the incumbent in the Scottish water market following its deregulation. Clear Business has steadily built its customer base and today is the largest independent water supplier in Scotland. With a 26% market share of the water market and providing a unique multi-service offering to 55,000 small business customers, this award is testament to the company’s performance and hard work from the team based in Hamilton.
On winning the award, Clear Business Co-Founder and Director John O’Donnell said: “The Clear Business success story over the last 6 years is something we are very proud of. The transition from a positively focussed disruptive water supplier to a unique multi-service provider has led to our strong performance record and helped us stand out in this category.
To be recognised for this and the hard work the team has put in with this prestigious award is a fantastic accolade. Clear Business is Lanarkshire born and bred and we could not have built our business anywhere else.”
As the night continued it was incredible to see that Clear Business is being acknowledged within Lanarkshire which has long been a hotbed of successful and diverse businesses. South Lanarkshire Council’s Chair of Community and Enterprise Resources, Councillor John Anderson, explains: “to be a winner at these awards, an extremely high level of excellence has to be achieved.
The winners this year have shown that this exceptional standard is not only continuing, but flourishing, as they nurture business success, as they innovate and as they recognise the expertise and dedication of all who work with them, at every level.”
Thank you to everyone who made this night possible and for our staff who have helped us in every step of the way to become Best Business (51+ Employees) at the Lanarkshire Business Excellence Awards 2019!
