TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK. AND WE COULDN’T BE MORE PROUD OF OUR TEAM HERE AT VERASTAR FOR TAKING PART IN CANCER RESEARCH UK’S RACE FOR LIFE EVENT, PRETTY MUDDY AND BEATING LAST YEAR’S DONATIONS RAISED.

Did you know, someone in the UK is diagnosed with Cancer every two minutes? That’s a staggering statistic and one that the team here at Verastar are stunned by. That’s why a dedicated bunch donated their time and energy into fighting the cause and finding a cure by entering the 5K race.

The 15-strong team donned their pink kit and ran, hopped and crawled until their hearts were content. The girls got their hands (and most limbs) dirty at Manchester’s Heaton Park on July 16th and hit a personal best with their donations, raising an awe-inspiring £2060.43.

And as always with every charitable endeavor, the company matches the amount raised which brought the total to a whopping £4120.86.

Customer Relations Director Janette Palmer said: “The day was fantastic, the team were in great spirits even when covered in mud and I’m thrilled we’ve beat our target and the business has raised a phenomenal amount for an amazing charity.”

The 5k race was an obstacle course around the park which involved a whole host of challenging but equally fun obstacles, from jumping through tyres to climbing net walls and bouncing on space hoppers.

Discussing the day, Beth Paxton said: “It was such a good laugh, being covered in mud with your friends and being able to laugh at each other but at the same time knowing you’ve done something worthwhile with your day.”

Beth added: “The worst obstacle for mud was crawling under the nets. Not only is it really muddy on the floor when you’re on your hands and knees but they throw mud at you and the net above is also caked in it, having a fringe was interesting!”
