VERASTAR HAS KINDLY DONATED £500 TO WYTHENSHAWE COMMUNITY GROUP, THE TREE OF LIFE CENTRE, AS PART OF OUR COMMUNITY SUPPORT SCHEME WHICH WILL HELP THE CENTRE’S IT SUITE AND JOB CLUB.

Our community support scheme is aimed to help local charities and community groups within the local community who work on making an impact and improving the quality of life for local people. This month’s charity was Wythenshawe community initiative, The Tree of Life Centre.

Set in the heart of Wythenshawe on Greenbrow Road, The Tree of Life Centre aims to improve the lives of those most deprived living in the poorest areas of the community by running a range of projects to meet outlined goals.  Projects range from volunteering and foodbanks to community re-paints and health and wellbeing classes alongside the new massage service.

Members of the community can buy household goods for a fraction of the price from the centre which receives donations from far and wide. Items such as sofas, furniture, beds, trinkets and kitchen essentials.

A combination of poverty and the current climate of austerity means there is little in the way of support for those who have no access to computers or broadband, limited IT skills, are unemployed and have sporadic access to support from employment agencies.  With Verastar’s financial donation, it will help the centre deliver IT support to those most in need in the Wythenshawe area.

The Tree of Life Centre Partnership Manager, Carys Roberts said: “We’re extremely grateful to Verastar for this funding. It will improve the lives of so many people in the community. We plan to use it towards our Job Suite computers. Last year the centre contributed to helping more than 1,500 people with IT skills, online applications and job searching. So this money will be extremely beneficial to the centre and our community members.”

CCO of Verastar, Nicola Smith said: “We’re really pleased to be able to show our support for local initiatives and are proud that the money we’ve donated will help towards job seeking and employment opportunities.”
