VERASTAR EMPLOYEES PLAY THEIR PART IN RECORD BREAKING SPORTS RELIEF 2016
Verastar Ltd headquarters in Wythenshawe played host to a fantastic night of fundraising and donation taking on 18 March, as the company once again provided its facilities to act as a designated call centre for the charity.
On a record breaking night which saw over £55 million raised nationwide, Verastar employees were heavily involved in the action as they manned the phones, taking donations totalling £22,800 from generous members of the public.
The night drew to a close a fantastic week of fundraising events including a raffle (with prizes including food vouchers, cinema tickets and hotel stays), a sports quiz, a bake off and ‘Food by Darshna’, Indian food cooked by talented employee Darshna Patel who kindly gives her spare time to cook her fantastic food for fellow employees. The total amount raised by Verastar employees amounted to £2514 which was then match by the company, meaning the total amount donated was £5028, a company record for such an event.
Discussing the week’s fundraising activities, event organiser Stacie King commented; “It’s been an amazing week! Everyone got into the spirit of things which made the events extra fun. To top it off, we have broken our fundraising record for an event like this which is testament to the staff and the way that they have embraced this year’s event.”
